dc.description.abstractEsta dissertação faz parte de pesquisas da Linha 1 - Perspectivas Filosóficas, Históricas, Políticas e Culturais da Educação, do Núcleo de História, Cultura, Escola e Ensino - do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação da Universidade Estadual de Londrina. O problema da pesquisa envolve a questão sobre como os discursos veiculados na revista A Palavra: revista litteraria dedicada à instrucção e recreio da mulher, representavam os ideais sobre ser mulher na sociedade oitocentista brasileira. Desse modo, o objetivo geral é analisar como as mulheres eram representadas nos discursos da revista, a fim de compreender o papel social feminino naquele período. A pesquisa, de cunho qualitativo, consta de um estudo documental e bibliográfico sob a perspectiva da Nova História Cultural. A fim de obter uma análise histórica de A Palavra, periódico do fim do século XIX, tem-se como parte da fundamentação teórica autores(as) como Chartier (1990), Duarte (2017), Priore (2020) e Barreto (2024). Com a análise, foi possível perceber que a revista da imprensa feminina, prescrevia, bem como descrevia um padrão social de feminilidade marcado por valores morais, religiosos e patriarcais, que reforçaram o papel da mulher no ambiente privado, em casa, cuidando de sua família. Os resultados confirmam que a imprensa feminina do final do século XIX foi um espaço de tensão, mas também de possibilidades entre manter uma tradição seguindo as estruturas de poder e a abrir brechas para a participação da mulher no espaço público. Analisar um periódico como A Palavra é conhecer e entender discursos limitados de direitos femininos, que ao mesmo tempo mostram possibilidades de inserção da mulher na vida pública. Portanto, espera-se que esta pesquisa seja uma base e incentivo para novas investigações sobre variadas representações de sujeitos históricos sob a ótica da imprensa brasileira
dc.description.abstractother1This dissertation is part of research from Line 1 - Philosophical, Historical, Political and Cultural Perspectives of Education, from the Center for History, Culture, School and Teaching - of the Postgraduate Program in Education at the State University of Londrina. The research problem involves the question of how the discourses conveyed in the magazine The Word: a literary magazine dedicated to the education and recreation of women, represented the ideals of being a woman in nineteenth-century Brazilian society. Thus, the overall objective is to analyze how women were represented in the magazine's discourse, in order to understand the social role of women during that period. The research, qualitative in nature, consists of a documentary and bibliographical study from the perspective of the New Cultural History. In order to obtain a historical analysis of The Word, a periodical from the end of the 19th century, the theoretical foundation includes authors such as Chartier (1990), Duarte (2017), Priore (2020) and Barreto (2024). Through the analysis, it was possible to perceive that the women's press magazine prescribed, as well as described a social standard of femininity marked by moral, religious and patriarchal values, which reinforced the role of women in the private environment, at home, taking care of their family. The results confirm that the women's press at the end of the 19th century was a space of tension, but also of possibilities between maintaining a tradition following power structures and opening up gaps for women's participation in the public space. Analyzing a periodical like The Word means knowing and understanding limited discourses on women's rights, which at the same time show possibilities for women's inclusion in public life. Therefore, it is hoped that this research will be a basis and incentive for new investigations into varied representations of historical subjects from the perspective of the Brazilian press
